Translation and Interpreting
Interpreting has been called “the second-oldest profession” - a service required even before writing was invented.
And that is the essential difference between interpretation and translation:
Whereas interpreters enable oral communication between two people who do not share a common spoken language, translators use the medium of the written word.
Both skills require deep linguistic and cultural understanding, expert knowledge of the subject matter, and the ability to communicate clearly.
