The Warriors of Sparta

Laconic: “concise, abrupt.” Just like our opening sentence. Crisp. To the point.

But where does the word come from? It literally means, “of or pertaining to Laconia.” This was the district surrounding ancient Sparta in Greece. The Spartans were known for their military prowess, but not so much for their charm. They famously cultivated the skill of saying much in few words. Laconic.
